Matt Kolbrener has been honing his glass blowing and sculpting techniques since 2007 by working with and studying under world-class artists and craftspeople. Inspired by the post-industrial landscapes of Detroit, Matt's approach to shaping hot glass has its roots in the imagery of industry. He constructs custom-made steel tools to form and texture the hot glass into shapes that capture Detroit's rich aesthetic history in an industrial, modern, retro style all his own.
Bring on the heat with this bold, handblown glass vase, pressed into heater coils to create its striking form. The edgy design is elevated by a splash of indigo, where bursts of color leave clear spots and organic markings throughout the glass. Both sculptural and functional, it’s a true work of art—equally stunning on display or filled with fresh blooms.
